I got from AV3 a licence to make a review of Get. Here are my first impressions.
- installation
- Install is absolutely simple : just drag 'Get' to the applications folder.
- At first launch, Get will need the admin password, the licence, and will connect to the activation server.
- Although I never used Get and didn't read no readme or manual, I'm at ease at once with the interface.
- Indexing
- I click on the '+' to add a Final Cut Pro project that has English dialogue
- Get starts to index the files in the project, and shows its progression with the little circle next to the project.
- Indexing is fast, it took 5mn to my old laptop to index 2 sounds of 1h30 each.
- Using
- I start a new query on a test word, 'Amsterdam'. No results, although the word is pronounced quite a few times in the dialogue ?!
- It's because of the 'Score' setting, which is too high by default. I bring it down to '+ 50' rather than '+ 75', and I get results
- After double-clicking on the result a new window opens, with every occurences of the word inside the media.
- 3/4 of the results are accurate. I don't mind about false positives, because I review each marker very rapidly, and correct errors
- a button
sends the markers to FCP
- conclusion
- AV3 Get is a really good product. For the moment, only English and Spanish are supported, I hope French will make its way soon.
